Take Control Around Tracks: Railroad Safety for Teens

Distractions are everywhere – but when it comes to trains, one wrong move can change everything.

Did you know? Teens aged 15–19 are four times more likely than kids 10–14 and nearly six times more likely than kids 5–9 to be involved in a train-related incident.

Teens in the Drivers Seat®

This peer-to-peer program empowers teens to lead the way in traffic safety. Created by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, it’s designed by teens, for teens – and it’s making a difference in high schools across 15 states. Middle schoolers can get involved too! The junior high version is available in Georgia, Nebraska, and Texas. Talk to your school about bringing Teens in the Driver’s Seat® to your campus.

Think Before You Snap: Photos on Railroad Tracks

Taking selfies or group photos on train tracks might seem harmless—but it’s illegal and can be deadly. Trains are quieter than you think, and by the time you hear one, it may be too late. Always stay off the tracks and choose a safer backdrop.
