Their territory extends to cover five Union Pacific subdivisions, as well as rail yards in Las Vegas; Milford, Utah; and Yermo, California.
The team credits its safe outcomes over the decades to a culture of communication and collaboration, as well as bimonthly safety meetings reinforcing safety best practices.
“The best thing about this group is the way everyone works together,” said Kye Metcalf, signal maintenance foreperson, Engineering. “Twenty-five years is no small feat. Everyone watches each other’s backs and does a wonderful job caring for one another.”
The team’s commitment to safety underscores Union Pacific’s No. 1 goal: ensuring every employee goes home safe to their families every day.
