This week, Union Pacific welcomed 72 summer interns for New Employee Orientation at the railroad's Omaha headquarters.
College students from more than 40 nationwide colleges and universities were selected for UP's three-month in-residence Intern Connection Program, which offers a mix of work experience, professional development and networking opportunities. Students make personal connections with other interns and employees while being introduced to career opportunities with the railroad.
Summer interns from outside the Omaha-metro area reside at University of Nebraska Omaha's Scott Residence Hall and work full-time until the program concludes in early August, when students return to their collegiate campus.

In 2021, Union Pacific employed nearly 200 year-round, summer and hybrid interns, and 80% of eligible senior collegiate interns were offered a full-time position upon completion of their internship.
