U.S. Customs-Trade Partnership

Union Pacific was the first railroad in the United States to be named a partner in the U.S. Customs Service's Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT). (Awarded on December 31, 2002.) The partnership is intended to develop, enhance and maintain effective security processes throughout the global supply chain.

Union Pacific has historically worked closely with U.S. Customs to maximize efforts to provide safe and secure transportation for its customers. As a C-TPAT participant, Union Pacific has put the proper processes and policies in place to enhance security across the company to ensure that all areas of its supply chain and supply chain partners – including documents, information systems, employee and contractor identification, equipment, and facilities – are secure.

Customers and suppliers can obtain more information about C-TPAT directly from the U.S. Customs website.

Union Pacific is the largest shipper of goods by rail across the U.S./Mexico border. Rail gateways to Mexico for Union Pacific Railroad are at Brownsville, Laredo, Eagle Pass and El Paso, Texas; Nogales, Arizona; and Calexico, California. UP serves Canada directly through the Eastport, Idaho, gateway.
