Union Pacific is experiencing an increase in the demand for EMP and UMAX domestic containers across our network, which we really appreciate. In order to reflect the current value of our capacity and reliable service, we’re inserting a surcharge.
In accordance with terms of the Mutual Commitment Program (MCP), UP is declaring the following markets constrained for MCQ 64000 (Aggregate).
Beginning at 0001 on Sunday, June 21, 2026, baseloads will be set to ensure adequate capacity for our year-round customers. Shipments above baseload in the following market(s) will be subject to the following surcharges:
Los Angeles & Inland Empire - $500/shipment
We will continue to monitor demand in all markets and make changes to the list of constrained markets and/or surcharge amount with notice.
