Mutual Commitment Program Announcement - Southern California

Announcement Number: PR2025-62

To Our Customers,

Union Pacific is experiencing an increase in demand for EMP and UMAX domestic container capacity out of Southern California.  Action is being taken to reposition containers and increase train capacity to meet the needs of shippers.

In accordance with terms of the Mutual Commitment Program (MCP), UP is declaring Southern California a constrained market.

Beginning at 00:01 the week of Sunday, August 17, Union Pacific will apply the following surcharges for weekly standard and aggregate shipment volume above the surge allowance for each MCP Agreement out of the constrained market(s):

  • Aggregate: $500/shipment

Standard MCP surcharge is also in effect and will be communicated to you by your Union Pacific sale representative.

We will continue to monitor demand in all markets and make changes to constrained markets or surcharge amounts with notice.

Should you have any questions, please contact your Union Pacific sales representative.

Sincerely,

Premium Business Team
