Domestic Container Shift from ICTF to City of Industry

To Our Domestic Intermodal Customers:

With the opening of our new and improved Kansas City Intermodal Terminal (KCIT), Union Pacific will be elevating our Southern California service product for domestic traffic. We will be shifting our Kansas City domestic service from the Intermodal Container Transfer Facility (ICTF) terminal in Long Beach, California, to the City of Industry terminal in Southern California.  Beginning September 3, 2025, domestic units moving to KCIT will ride in our expedited Z network six days per week. This service offers a transit time of approximately 2.5 days and more than a 25% faster journey with up to 25 hours in savings versus comparable industry options. Units originating at KCIT will continue to enjoy the current expedited Z train and benefit from a set out at City of Industry.

For your planning:

• The last day to ingate traffic at ICTF will be Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Beginning on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, all domestic containers destined to KCIT should ingate at City of Industry. Please also begin waybilling shipments from City of Industry at that time.
• Please begin to waybill westbound shipments from KCIT to City of Industry by Friday, August 29, 2025. Domestic containers will be grounded and notified at City of Industry beginning on Monday, September 1, 2025.

Both Standard and Priority Domestic container service will be offered from City of Industry to KCIT. Eastbound schedules are provided below. Westbound schedules do not change but are provided for your convenience.
