Labor Day Operating Plan
To Our Customers, In anticipation of the Labor Day holiday, we would like to update you on operations during this time to meet your service expectations. Network operations are expected to run as normal, with all major interchange locations remaining open. Adjustments to local operations may be made to align with customer holiday demand. To Our Customers, There's been a lot said in the industry lately about our agreements with CN, which provide CN access to Mexico through Eagle Pass and expand our operating rights on the Elgin, Joliet, & Eastern Railway (EJ&E) in Chicago. I’d encourage you to read Todd Rynaski’s perspective on these agreements. As our Senior Vice President of Strategy, Todd explains how these initiatives will deliver meaningful benefits for customers, including a second direct Canada-to-Mexico routing option and reduced congestion in the Chicago gateway. These are real wins for you and for the broader supply chain. However, they do not replace the transformational benefits that a merger with Norfolk Southern will provide.

Intermodal Customers, Domestic Weekly Intermodal Fuel Surcharge will be 51.5% for the week of August 24, - August 30, 2026.
UP 4907 & UP 4908 - Rice Boxcar & Covered Hopper Tariff Renewal
Dear Union Pacific Customers, The rice boxcar tariff (UP 4907) and covered hopper tariff (UP 4908) renewal will be published and viewable on UP online by August 31, 2026. New prices are effective October 1, 2026. Union Pacific has increased these tariffs on a lane-by-lane basis so please view your selective lanes to determine price adjustments.

Dear Union Pacific Customers, Union Pacific has not made selective price adjustments for the month of September in Tariff UP 1195, Items 100 & 200.
EMP and UMAX Transactional Rates: Effective August 23, 2026
Intermodal Customers, Union Pacific will implement adjustments to EMP and UMAX transactional rates effective August 23, 2026.
Mutual Commitment Program August 2026 Update
To Our Valued Customers, Union Pacific continues to experience an increase in demand for EMP and UMAX domestic containers across our network, which we greatly appreciate. Action is being taken to both unstack and reposition containers while also increasing train capacity, where applicable, to meet the needs of shippers.
