Union Pacific’s Health and Medical Processes and Policies are established to determine an employee’s Fitness for Duty. Health and Medical Services determines "Fitness for Duty" as the medical and functional, (i.e., physical, mental, and cognitive) ability to:
- Safely perform a job, with or without reasonable accommodations, and
- Meet applicable medical standards established by state and federal regulatory agencies.
These Medical Processes and Policies apply to post-offer applicants and all employees.
Company Fit-for-Duty Policy
- All employees are responsible to ensure they report to work fit for duty and in compliance with the medical processes and policies set forth by Union Pacific Railroad and Health and Medical Services.
- If an employee has a medical condition or is taking a medication that impacts his or her ability to safely perform his or her job duties, the employee must remove themselves from duty, not report to work, and immediately notify their supervisor.
- Employees must follow all medical processes and policies and cooperate with Health and Medical Services instructions.
