Union Pacific Railroad is proud to announce the distribution of more than $4 million in local grants to 430 nonprofit organizations through its Community Ties Giving Program. The awards reinforce Union Pacific’s commitment to building strong, safe and sustainable communities across its 23-state network.

The International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers – Transportation Division (SMART-TD), the nation’s largest railroad union, and Union Pacific Railroad, the nation’s largest railroad, today announced a historic agreement ensuring job security for thousands of railroad workers as Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern pursue a proposed merger.

Union Pacific is pleased to announce that it has reached ratified agreements with 11 unions that cover 12 crafts and represent 46% of the railroad’s craft employees.

Union Pacific Railroad President Beth Whited will transition from her role as the railroad’s first female president to become a strategic advisor effective July 1, 2025. Whited will remain an advisor through early 2026.
